Fair MusE Researchers to Present at IASPM D-A-CH Conference 2024 in Zurich

On 8 November 2024, Fair MusE researchers Antoine Henry, Valdy Wiratama, and Antonios Vlassis will participate in the 6th IASPM D-A-CH Conference, titled Metadaten | Metainformationen. Populäre Musik und ihre Metamorphosen, at Universität Zürich. The team will present during Session 5: “Fairness in a Platform-Based Music Ecosystem”, scheduled from 11:00 to 12:30.
In this session, the Fair MusE team will explore various dimensions of fairness within the digital music industry:
- Valdy Wiratama will kick off with a presentation on the Manifesto for a Fairer Music Ecosystem in Europe, offering an interdisciplinary perspective and outlining the project’s work in developing fair practices.
- Antonios Vlassis will discuss How to Perceive Fairness in a Platform-Dominated Music Sector?, providing insights into stakeholder views and the EU’s regulatory efforts to promote fairness.
- Antoine Henry will conclude with How to Evaluate the Fairness of a Music Platform?, focusing on methods to assess algorithmic fairness and the power imbalances between platforms and creators.
This session aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how digitalisation affects fairness, transparency, and compensation for music creators.
