“OK Computer: Music, Algorithms, and Rights” at the International Festival of Economics in Turin.
Torino, Italy

Previously held in Trento, this renowned event serves as a vital platform for global economic discourse and innovation. Founded in 2008 by Laterza Publishers with scientific direction from Economist and Professor Tito Boeri, the Festival is a collaborative effort involving various institutions including the Piedmont Region, the City of Turin, and academic entities like the University of Turin and the Polytechnic University of Turin.

The theme for the 2024 edition, taking place from May 30th to June 2nd, 2024, in Turin, is “Knowledge Ownership,” addressing the contemporary relevance of knowledge across sectors from business to healthcare and urban development, reflecting on its implications for society.

The Festival has grown in stature over the years, attracting leading figures in the field. As Fair MusE, we are honored to announce that the project’s coordinator, Prof. Giuseppe Mazziotti, will intervene in the panel titled “OK Computer: Music, Algorithms, and Rights”. Exploring the fascinating interplay between music, algorithms, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and rights, this session will examine how technology, particularly AI , is reshaping the music industry landscape, influencing the way we discover, consume, and create music.

Attendees can expect insightful discussions on the implications of algorithm-driven music platforms, computer-generated works, the evolving concept of digital rights, and the challenges and opportunities presented by technological advancements in the music sector. The event is curated by the University of Turin under the scientific supervision of Prof Andrea Gallice.

We look forward to engaging in meaningful dialogue and collaboration with fellow participants as we collectively explore the evolving landscape of economics in 2024.
