NEWS RELEASE

A recognition of excellence in digital storytelling, cultural impact, and European values

The Fair MusE project is proud to announce that its website, fairmuse.eu, has won the 2025 .eu Web Awards in the prestigious Cultural Ambassador category. The award, presented by the European Registry for Internet Domains (EURid), honours websites that promote Europe’s cultural richness and contribute to strengthening shared European identity through digital innovation.

Selected among outstanding finalists from across the continent, Fair MusE’s website was recognised for its ability to translate complex research on music fairness, copyright, and digital ecosystems into an accessible, engaging, and culturally meaningful online space. The platform has become a central hub for informing the public, policymakers, artists, and researchers about the project’s mission: fostering a fairer and more transparent music-streaming ecosystem in Europe.

A European award with a longstanding legacy

The .eu Web Awards, launched in 2014, celebrate the best websites operating under the .eu top-level domains. Every year, hundreds of nominees compete across several categories that highlight excellence in digital communication, design, innovation, and cultural value.

This year’s Cultural Ambassador award recognises digital projects that showcase Europe’s artistic heritage, cultural diversity, and creative industries. Previous winners have included museums, cultural organisations, artistic collectives, and educational platforms, placing Fair MusE among an inspiring group of European initiatives shaping the cultural conversation online.

Design and development: a team effort worth celebrating

While the award celebrates the entire Fair MusE consortium, special recognition goes to two key team members who shaped the website’s identity and user experience:

  • Orazio Di Maria, Graphic Designer: for crafting the visual identity of Fair MusE and translating the project’s vision into a modern, intuitive, and culturally resonant design.
  • Giuseppe Falco, Web Developer: for building a robust, elegant, and accessible digital platform that brings Fair MusE’s research, tools, and resources to life.

Their combined work created a website that is both aesthetically distinctive and functionally clear, supporting the project’s mission of transparency and public engagement.

A win for the entire Fair MusE consortium

The award also reflects the collective work of the Fair MusE partners (researchers, data scientists, legal scholars, and other experts) whose contributions shape the rich content featured on the site.

From pieces on music-centre data infrastructures, to updates on policy developments, interviews, and podcasts, the website functions as a gateway to a deeper European dialogue about fairness in the digital music ecosystem.

Winning the .eu Web Awards strengthens Fair MusE’s commitment to making knowledge about the music-streaming market open, accessible, and impactful.

As the project enters its final phase, the website will continue to expand with new research summaries, educational material, policy recommendations, and other tools reinforcing its role as a cultural ambassador in the evolving landscape of European digital culture.
